Why British Army Gore-tex Jackets Don’t Have Gore-tex Labels

August 11, 2011 in Army Surplus

Army Gore-tex JacketWe have stocked Army Gore-tex Jackets and trousers for many years now; we sell these items with confidence because of the quality of manufacture, the material, but ultimately from the feedback we get from you, our customers.

However, there are a small number of you that remain unconvinced that an Army Gore-tex Jacket is actually that a “Gore-tex” jacket.

It is honest!

It’s all very well and good us saying “It really is, trust us”, but for new customers and customers buying on the internet there is sometimes an element of doubt.

I hope that this article will help give you more confidence when buying Army Gore-tex Jackets. We had a meeting on Monday, with the company that supplies the MOD with it’s Army Gore-tex Jackets (The meeting was regarding something very exciting that I will talk about in a future post).

During the course of the meeting we asked them why, unlike other Army Gore-tex Jackets the British issue items do not have Gore-tex labels.

Favouritism

The simple answer is that the MOD cannot be seen to be endorsing one company over another. That’s it, no complex red tape to tell you about, the British Army simply can’t show favoritism so they don’t brand any of their items (Which isn’t strictly true, because I’ve seen some Gore-tex Sock/Boot Liners with a Gore-tex label in them ;-) Don’t tell anyone).

Exciting Times Ahead

We’ve already received shipment of brand new MOD specification Army Gore-tex Jackets direct from the MOD certified supplier and there are some very exciting things happening in the World of Denbigh Army Surplus. Whilst I don’t want to jinx anything by saying too much, I can say watch this space!
